Prior’s Field is a vibrant and successful school with a fascinating history that we are very proud of. Julia Huxley founded Prior's Field in 1902, as a school where girls would be encouraged to develop a life-long love of learning, to have high aspirations and be ambitious but also strong, kind and with a social conscience. Julia Huxley chose our motto; We live by Admiration, Hope and Love. Her vision was summarised by her desire 'to send confident young women out, ready to take their place in the modern world'. Prior's Field remains a unique school - one that celebrates achievement, diversity and individuality.
MR. C. F. VOYSEY. ARCHITECT OF THE SCHOOL
Besides planning the buildings of the School, and giving them many touches of his particular decorative talent, Mr. Voysey also designed the School Bookplate, which appears on the cover of the Magazine. As he explained it to me, its symbolism is that the Owl of Wisdom perches in the Olive tree of Peace — this springs from a Heart encircled by the diadem of Self-control.
