An extra bonus to their return to school this week as Prior’s Field Fifth Form learnt of their incredible success in their Maths iGCSE sat in January at the brink of lockdown number two. With 100% pass rate, 78% level 7-9 and nineteen level 9s – the girls were jumping for joy as the news broke following their PE class.
Fifth Form at Prior’s Field are always given the opportunity to sit their Maths iGCSE early in January and get one GCSE under their belt. This year at the eleventh hour it looked as if all their hard work would be for nothing as lockdown was announced. After anxious hours of checking permissions and procedures, the School got the go ahead only a day before that the January exams could proceed. After a mammoth overnight effort to extend the COVID-safety requirements even further, every Year 11 girl opted to sit.
This will give the girls great confidence as they go forward to the revised assessments this summer and teaching staff are working incredibly hard to ensure they have all the evidence they need to reflect the true ability of every student.
Head Tracy Kirnig commented today:
“I am so delighted that we were able to give the girls the green light to safely sit their exams, after months of preparation and the last minute lockdown giving us all a very anxious wait on the Exam Boards decision. I am even more delighted that each and every girl in the Fifth Form has achieved a truly wonderful personal result and has had the experience of sitting a public exam. These are fantastic results which they so richly deserve and which has put a real spring in their step, after such a worrying time. This will give the girls great confidence as they go forward to the revised assessments this summer.”
