It’s a funny feeling I get as I drive into school; all the memories flood back. But there’s no doubting that it’s a special place with lots of history and I love going to visit (if you’ve been wondering what school looks like after all these years, Polly would love you to book a visit). If you’ve you've been thinking about going to AppArt, then definitely do it. Taking place every Easter break, the Rose Garden is filled with sculptures and the Assembly Hall is turned into a spectacular art gallery. The art is all for sale, including very interesting pieces I was tempted to buy. There’s something for everyone in all price ranges, from blown art glass to sculptures made from repurposed old metal to jewellery or modern paintings for your wall. Pick a sunny day and the sculptures glint in the sunlight. If it’s not so good then the indoor section is filled to bursting with all sorts.
AppArt was founded in 2012 by Evelyn & Gwyn Phillips to encourage interest in the visual arts in the Surrey area. Artists from all over the South East of England take part in the annual exhibition, so it is fun to see familiar scenes of walks on Hankley Common or Farnham Park painted by local artists. It's well worth the trip, especially as the exhibition is free to enter.
