Old Girl in Focus |
I graduated with a Media & Communications degree from Oxford Brookes University in 2007 and excitedly started my career working for a luxury yacht company in London. As Press Officer, I leapt into a world of power boats, glossy magazine titles and dreamy destinations! I would often travel to an office abroad or around the UK for PR opportunities.
We would launch two new models and refresh two existing models in the yacht range per year. Launching a new boat model was a huge team effort which would include factory support, regional agency liaison, editor and journalist press trips, photo shoots, VIP customer experiences, multi-language sales broker and client communications, online website development, events and international boat shows and brand partnerships.
In 2016, I decided to diversify my career in the marine industry, and work for Camper & Nicholsons Marinas. I head up the marketing team based in the UK and Hong Kong, which involves the day-to-day running of three marinas we own and manage in Malta, Turkey and the Caribbean, and create marketing strategy and support for new-build marina consultancy projects.
I look at global yachting trends and offer insight into marine industry growth. Marinas are becoming more commercially efficient with better services and facilities for yachts and superyachts, their owners, and crew. More policies are in place, providing eco-friendly marine habitat guidance and protocol. Marine manufacturing continues to commit to more clean-energy concepts.
With industry friends, I am keen to promote ‘women in yachting.’ I am also an ambassador to a yachting start-up investment business.
I have been very grateful to cross career paths with the wonderfully kind, super helpful and fun Old PF Girls, Caitlin McConnell, Molly Eve and Ellie Mills.
